How far does your food travel before it gets to your plate? A few steps from your window sill/backyard/community garden? A few (hundred) miles from your local farmer? Or does your food travel farther than your Tia Lidia from Quito? The Northeast Organic Farming Association of New York is challenging you (yes, you) to eat local and sustainable foods for the month of September. The NY State Locavore Challenge is registering folks for one day, one week, or the entire month. NOFA-NY provides you with pantry lists, recipes and other resources to help you through your quest. Anyone care to join me? I’m debating whether to do a week or the whole month!
